About Me
My name is Jennifer. Or Jen. Sometimes Jenny.
When I was 8 years old, I was bitten by The Dog Bug with my first pup, a cockapoo/terrier mix named Rudy. I’m just… obsessed with dogs. I live and breathe dogs. I can talk about dogs all day long: Breeds, History, Genetics, Rescue, Nutrition, Training, Behavior, Medical Issues, Potty. Dog stories, dog literature, dog art, dog parks, dog, dog, dog.
When other girls where busy dreaming about their weddings from the time they were little, I was dreaming about winning the Iditarod dog sled race and Best in Show at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. Of course as an adult, I realize my chances of winning- er, even PARTICIPATING- in these events is slim to none, but as a kid… I fed on that stuff. Dog novels by Albert Payson Terhune, James Oliver Curwood, Jack O’Brien, James Kjelgaard and Donald McCaig were read over and over and over and over until their spines fell apart. I lived those stories. I’d love to- I hope to- write a dog story or two like them, some day.
I have trained in obedience, agility, packing, and skijoring; shown in obedience, junior handling and AKC conformation. My dogs have also volunteered in animal-assisted therapy programs at local nursing homes. My passion now is dog rescue and adoption.
My current pack consists of Jack, a retired racing greyhound and Lela, a ‘bronx coyote/heintz 57’. A foster or two occasionally pass through our doors as well- keeps life interesting!
Art
They say that “art” shouldn’t be about subject, but to me it totally is. I was lucky enough to have understanding art teachers all my life, but there were a few times I heard, “Jen, do you draw anything else other than dogs?” Actually I do! Sometimes. I draw other animals, landscapes. But dogs really make me happy- they are my soul. So most of the art I do is canine-related, suffice to say. 
Among my favorite artists: John James Audubon, Harold Weston, Charles Birchfield, and the Group of Seven.
My favorite media: Printmaking (linocuts, woodcuts) and Oil Pastel. I’m currently experimenting with new media too… dry pastels, acrylics, silverpoint. Check out my blog for more info!
Other Random Stuff About Me
If you read my blog, you probably already know that I LOVE the outdoors- especially hiking and camping (with the dogs of course). Our favorite places are the hills around Central New York and the Finger Lakes, as well as the Adirondack Mountains.
I have been collecting rocks and fossils almost as long as I have been a Crazy Dog Lady.
I read EVERYTHING I can about Mount Everest.
I went to Poland in 2002 (I am 75% Polish) and although I hate to travel big distances, am planning to go back for- or before- my 40th Birthday.
I love reading, especially non-fiction.
I am 95% vegetarian, a tree hugger, kind of a hermit, and swing AR.
I hate politics and hot/humid weather.
