painting, printmaking & all things DOG…

Process

Although I’ve worked in many media over the years, my current fascination is with Printmaking- nope, not reproductions that come out of a computer printer or xerox machine but actual, orignal, hand-made prints. These involve carving blocks of wood or linoleum with small chisels and gouges, inking the block with a roller (brayer), and pressing it against a piece of paper to produce an image. It is a painstaking and often frustrating process but highly rewarding when it all comes together and works perfectly!

This page is still under construction, but more pics of the process to come-

Carving a block of linoleum with a U-gouge. My design is already drawn on and edges highlighted with a black Sharpie.
