Studio
In the summer of 2010 we moved into our new house with an awesome studio space, lots of natural light, high ceilings, and 1/2 acre fenced backyard for the pups. We love it! My studio occupies what the former owner called “the Adirondack Room.” Given our love of the Adirondack Mountains and the wonderful inspiration it gives us… it seems to fit!
My art table is an old kitchen table re-purposed from my days of living in South Brooklyn (a Pergament special!). That’s the “getterdone” area- where I plan, cut paper, draw, paint, carve etc etc. I have a beautiful view through the windows overlooking the garden (aka Lela’s toad hunting area) . The fake oriental rug in front of my desk is a nice place to stretch out and sketch or cheer on the constant wrestling matches between the dogs.
On the north side of the studio is my “website and blogging station”– a beautiful roll-top desk was handcrafted by my Grandpa Z in 1989:
It’s very handsome, isn’t it?
I have 2 printing presses: The Red Bomber, a handmade bottle jack/hydraulic press (many thanks to Charles Morgan of Mossworks for the plans!), and The Blue Bomber, a Dick Blick 906 Etching Press. Although I do occasionally still print by hand, these guys make life much easier…

What’s an art studio without a muse–or two? My faithful studio assistants, Lela and Jack–sharing a (rare) quiet moment:
Thanks for stopping by!
